Optix UF5 is a non-tinted conservation grade
clear acrylic sheet formulated to offer excellent ultraviolet (UV) filtering characteristics.
Its UV blocking transmission makes it perfect for protecting fine art and valuable
documents. It is ideal and highly recommended for art or documents that may
be placed in direct or indirect sunlight.
Fabrics and paper become brittle, fade in color,
or turn yellow when exposed to UV light. Cellulose fibers, from
which paper is made, are particularly sensitive to UV-radiation. Consequently,
every precaution should be taken to prevent the exposure of valuable articles
of paper or cellulose fiber to UV light.
UV light is present in sunlight and some artificial
lighting. Halogen lamps emit a considerable amount of UV light,
and even common fluorescent lamps emit light in the UV range of 320 to 380 nm.
Optix UF5 Acrylic absorbs approximately 99% of the UV light, while preserving all
light in the visible spectrum, so as not to change the apparent color of the
document. All Optix acrylics are half the weight of glass with four times the impact
resistance.
